CURRICULA GUIDE 

Basic Patrol Rifle/ RTTS00BR00001   OFFERED IN 2, 3 OR 4 DAY

This course is designed to give a basic familiarization of the patrol rifle with enhanced drills and courses of fire to help the patrol officer prepare for an armed encounter.  The course is designed to challenge a new operator of an assault rifle in the engagement of hostile targets both individually and with another officer as a back up in a shooting scenario.   

Tactical Patrol Rifle/RTTS00TR00001    OFFERED AS A 2 OR 3 DAY

The tactical patrol rifle curriculum is designed to take the basic operator from a level of confidence to a level of competency in a tactical level of training.  This course is designed to increase a patrol officer’s proficiency in a tactical situation.  The officer will experience a more intense level of training than from the basic course; which will increase the officer’s confidence level of operation with the patrol rifle. 

Advanced Combat Pistol / RTTS00AP00001   OFFERED IN 2 OR 3 DAY

The advanced combat pistol course is designed to bring the patrol office out of the complacency of standard qualifying to reacting to an active shooting scenario.  The student will encounter a challenging course of fire after several drills and instruction that will increase the student’s level of confidence as well as the level of proficiency in an

Armed encounter. 

Tactical Combat Handgun / RTTS00TR00001  OFFERED IN 2 OR 3 DAY

  The tactical combat handgun course is designed to bring the level of proficiency of any officer higher than that of a basic qualification or re-qualification. This is accomplished through realistic drills and practical exercises that create an atmosphere of combat survival within the student.  

Advanced Shotgun / RTTS00AS00001  OFFERED IN 2 OR 3 DAY

Most officers are not very familiar with the shotgun.  This course is designed to give the officer confidence in the use and handling of the shotgun.  Officers in this course will use a shotgun extensively in coordination with the duty sidearm. 

Tactical Shotgun / RTTS00TS00001 OFFERED IN 2 OR 3 DAY

After becoming familiar with the shot gun in the advanced class, officers will now be exposed to a higher level of training.  The officer will encounter shooting scenarios that will increase the officer’s ability to encounter an active shooter or a volatile situation where the shotgun will be deployed. 

Advanced Shotgun Instructor / RTTS00SI00002  OFFERED IN 2 OR 3 DAY

The shotgun instructor class is designed for the law enforcement firearms instructor.  This training will focus on the knowledge agency instructors should to have in order for them to better train and prepare officers to handle police issued shotguns.  Problems that are common to the law enforcement community training needs will be addressed as well as diagnosing shooter difficulty and errors.  Students will learn more about the shotgun and its uses; including field techniques to diagnose and repair minor problems with the shotgun.  Training techniques will be a critical focus for the students.  All students will be tested on the material covered; and be required to create a training that is acceptable in the law enforcement community.  Special knowledge of the shotgun and the applications available to the officers will be also be discussed and demonstrated.    

Firearms Range Officer Update / RTTS00ROU1 2 DAY

The firearms range officer gets limited access to new techniques and training.

This course is designed to update the range officer in newer techniques of training and tactics used for training.  The course will also update the students on training ideas that is designed to provide the student with ideas to bring back to their agency.  

Firearms Range Master / RTTS00FRM00001 MANDATORY 4 DAY CLASS

This training is designed to bring the firearms range officer into the level of range master.  The Range Master has many responsibilities that will be addressed in this training.  Only range officers with 3 years or more active range experience will be accepted into this class.  This is a hands on training in which the student will have to perform duties that are incorporated into range master position as dictated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.  The student will have to perform minor firearm remedies to bring the firearm back into operation, as well as learn the administrative aspects of the job.  Diagnosing the shooter will be an intricate part of this training as well as range officer evaluation.     

Basic Sniper / RTTS00BS00001 MANDATORY 5 DAY CLASS

This course is designed to introduce the new sniper/observer in to the role of a tactical shooter/observer.  The student must be an operator assigned to a tactical unit as a sniper.    The student will learn basic skills in marksmanship utilizing a tactical rifle along with observation skills and various responsibilities of a sniper/observer.  The student upon graduating from this class will also have basic skills and knowledge in concealment, field craft, multiple target engagement, moving target, range estimation and or calculation using the mildot reticle, urban operations, counter sniper tactics, etc. 

Anti Terrorist Sniper / Counter Sniper / RTTS00ATS00001  MANDATORY 3 DAY

This is an advanced level of Sniper training that will challenge the student to operate in a hostile environment and deliver precise fire onto a hostile target under stress.  The student will encounter hostile snipers that must be identified and neutralized.

All advance sniper / observer classes are an individual break down of the many skills the sniper / observer must master.  The one or two skills that the chosen class is teaching are then practiced and drilled to enable the student to become proficient and confident when using the skills in a live arena.  Usually these skills take years of experience to develop for most operators.   The advanced classes are designed to hone those skills in a short period of time through repetition and exercises. 

Sniper Team Leader / RTTS00STL00001  MANDATORY 4 DAY

This is training for the incoming or unfamiliar sniper team leader.  This training will give the team leader a fresh look on documentation, training the team, placement of snipers on a call out.  The sniper team leader has many responsibilities that will be brought out in this class in order for them to maintain a sound sniper team 

Dignitary Protection /  LEVEL I, 2 DAY AND LEVEL II, 3 DAY

The lessons learned from many armed encounters involving dignitaries have increased through the years.  Many business officials have a need for security when moving from appointments, cities, buildings, home, and public meetings.  The dignitary classes are a stepping stone to success in dignitary protection.  In the level I class basic protection techniques will be taught.  Students will also learn preliminary tactics to help secure a location and maintain security.  The level II class takes the student to a higher level of security with more obstacles to encounter and over come.  Both classes are developed for the students to think and develop plans, sometimes on the fly.  Students will have total responsibility for the hands on portion of the class, which makes of the bulk of the class time. Students will encounter minimal force on force situations.  

Criminal Investigation / RTTS00CI00001 OFFERED AS A  2 DAY

An entry level class that teaches the officer some of the knowledge needed to investigate a case and have the case ready for prosecution after an arrest is made. 

Criminal Investigation ll / RTTS00CI00002  OFFERED AS A 2 DAY

Advanced criminal investigation isolates a given field of investigation such as theft, burglary, fraud, identity theft, forgery etc., and then prepares the student for a successful case development which will lead to the arrest of a suspect. 

  Law Enforcement Response to an Active Shooter / Counter Terrorist/

Includes A.S.A.P. (active shooter assault pac) Training /RTTS00LRAS00001

This is a 40 hour course that instructs and drills a patrol officer to react to an active shooter in an active shooter setting.  The course uses multiple scenarios and will place the student into various roles as a responder. The course is a mixture of class room, firing range and actual reality based situations that force the first responding officers into the mind set of a shooting situation.  Training includes Tactical Paramedic extraction techniques and identifying potential explosive devices.  This training is designed to create reaction to an active shooter which will minimize the response time and hurry the resolution of the shooting problem. Counter Terrorist; Building Entries and Searches / 3 day-32hour / Includes A.S.A.P. Training (Active Shooter Assault Pac) / RTTS00CTBC00001

This course is designed to give the patrol officer a better knowledge and skill in building clearing, searching and entry.  Students will have classroom and hands on exercises. 

Counter Terrorist; Tactical Entries and Searches (S.W.A.T. Level) -5 day/ 56 hour / RTTS00CTTE00001

This training involves a more team oriented approach than the 3 day class.  This is not a team only training however.  The student in this class will be exposed to various levels of breaching doors and buildings as well as more hands on training to refine their skills and knowledge.  The student upon completion of this training will have a better knowledge of their ability to perform under stress and be able to train on their own to refine their skills. 

Officer - Hostage Rescue / RTTS00HR00001 3 DAY

This course will cover the many aspects of rescue, both with a vehicle and without.  The student will have a classroom and range training with repetition to build efficiency and confidence. 

Multiple Weapon Rescue Tactics / RTTS00MWRT00001  3 OR4  DAY

This training is a combination of rescue techniques and tactics and multiple gun firing.  The student will learn tactics and techniques to extract wounded victims from a live fire area while engaging a threat.  The second phase of the training is a multiple gun fire from various positions and utilizing transitions from long gun to sidearm.  The third phase of the training is to bring the first two phases of training together in an exercise to challenge the students.  Through multiple scenarios the students will improve their confidence and ability to adapt to a constantly changing and hostile environment.  

Multiple Guns / RTTS003G00001    3 DAY

The multiple gun courses bring the officer to the next level of confidence.  The student will practice and drill on the engagement of multiple targets in a stressed environment. with 3 separate firearms. The student will use a primary and secondary gun transitioning from one to the other during target engagements.  The course is designed to make all actions by the officer instinctive for survival in a combat situation.  This training is a 3 gun extravaganza that begins at a walking pace and concludes in a high level stressed situation that will bring the student’s proficiency level to a more realistic level of training.  Students will learn advanced shooting skills and tactical movement that is not taught in the normal recruit level class or most agency requalification.  The student will become proficient with the use of the rifle, shotgun at medium to close range and have exposure to more advanced handgun training.        

Basic S.W.A.T. / RTTS00BS00001  MANDATORY   80 HOUR TRAINING

This class is for the new S.W.A.T. officer to give them a variety of techniques and skills to use in a standard S.W.A.T. operation.  Students will find the course both physical and challenging.  Students will learn a variety of techniques from veteran tactical officers from the police s.w.a.t. community and the military Special Forces community. 

S.W.A.T. Team Search Warrant Execution / RTTS00BSSWE00001  2 DAY

Search warrant execution requires immediate and decisive action when involving a special operation unit.  This training is designed to give a team of operators the skills necessary to develop into a highly precision unit when executing high risk search warrants.   Several approaches and scenarios will be used to challenge the students to give them a well rounded approach to a variety of problems in the field. 

Patrol Rifle Instructor / RTTS00PRI00001  MANDATORY 5 DAY

The rifle instructor class is designed for an agency firearms instructor, who has already participated in a separate rifle course of instruction.  (If the student has prior military training the rifle course requirement can be waived with proper documentation)  The course will provide guidelines on classroom instruction, shooting drills and training scenarios that will enhance an officer’s ability to instruct their students to operate a rifle in the patrol setting.  The student will be required to qualify prior to entering the class.  Prior to completing the class there is a written exam and a firing sequence for the student to perform and qualify with.

  • THE CERTIFICATION FOR THIS CLASS LASTS 4 YEARS FROM R.T.T.S.
  • DURING THE 4 YEARS THE INSTRUCTOR WILL BE REQUIRED TO TEACH A PATROL RIFLE COURSE. 
  • AFTER 4 YEARS IF THE STUDENT HAS TAUGHT A RIFLE CLASS THEY CAN RECERTIFY WITH AN 8 HOUR INSTRUCTOR REFRESHER COURSE.
  • THE REFRESHER TRAINING IS TO ENSURE THE INSTRUCTOR HAS ANY RECENT UPDATES IN PATROL RIFLE TRAINING AND CAN STILL PASS A PROFIENCY COURSE WITH THE RIFLE
  • IF THE INSTRUCTOR HAS NOT TAUGHT A RIFLE CLASS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, THEN THE INSTRUCTOR MUST REPEAT THE RIFLE INSTRUCTOR COURSE.
  • IF THE INSTRUCTOR HAS NOT TAUGHT A PATROL RIFLE CLASS WITHIN THE 4 YEAR PERIOD OF CERTIFICATION, THEN R.T.T.S. WILL NO LONGER RECOGNIZE THEIR CERTIFICATION.
  • IF AN INSTRUCTOR HAS NOT RECEIVED THE REFRESHER TRAINING FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS AFTER THE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION LAPSES, THEN R.T.T.S. WILL REQUIRE THE INSTRUCTOR TO COMPLETE ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR’S COURSE.

 Entry Team Tactics for a Drug Search Warrant (Non-S.W.A.T.) / RTTS00ENS00001  3 DAY

The entry team tactics for the drug search warrant class is designed to teach a team of officer’s tactics on entries and clearing tactics for apartment’s, mobile homes and houses when executing a search warrant for drugs.  

Florida C.M.S. Basic Firearms Instructor / RTTS00FFI00001  5 DAY

This course is the Florida standard for firearms instructors which are required to instruct firearms in the state of Florida. 

D.U.I. Enforcement / RTTS00DUIE00001  3 DAY

This course is a basic level to the new officer for D.U.I. enforcement.  The student will have class room as well as hands on training for the proper enforcement techniques for D.U.I. stop, field sobriety testing, and arrest.  Court room preparation and presentation will also be included in this training.
